Union Hall 11/17/08

Monday night was a great time at my favorite place to play, ever. Union Hall.
Mieka Pauley and Doug Keith were spectacular as usual, and we had a pretty good turnout considering it was late on a frigid Monday.

If you missed the show, you can still get a little piece of the show! Here's
my live cover of Who Is It, by Bjork

.

And a couple of pictures from the evening. See you at the next show, coming up January 7th at the Sidewalk Cafe!

This Monday

I've been a little delinquent on updating this blog. Now that it's like New Years again (Presidential Election. YES) a resolution of mine is to update this puppy.

I'm playing this Monday at Union Hall in Park Slope at 8 PM, a well as hosting the evening (Brooklyn Songwriter's Exchange). It's going to be a good night. Mieka Pauley and Doug Keith are both playing also. They are wonderful. Check it out:

3 songs in the tiniest house

Graham just moved into a new place, therefore recording locations have shifted a bit. we set up 3 mics today and got a really nice sound with a room that was just live enough to make it great. recorded 3 more songs today that felt really great. bam!

I spent the evening playing with graham and dave, which was so magical, it's very exciting.

spent last weekend crashing the reunion of some wellesley '03 friends. it was such a great time. on the way home we drove through some intensive lightning storms. i saw the biggest lightning i have ever seen. i guess big is a vague term, but there were some serious bolts! got home to BK and a massive thunderstorm hit and then all of a sudden, a song wrote itself and i was so pleased.

i just tried some garlic pretzels. jesus, a terrible idea

so, i had this dream...

i know its hard to listen when someone starts off a sentence this way, but i just remembered a dream i had last night.

while i was being gently held hostage, i was served a fancy soup that contained every freaky meat you could possibly think of. this soup had a starfish in it, horse hooves, some unknown animal that resembled an armored armadillo, and, dammit the rest has escaped me. point is, it was a disgusting trial of my quasi-vegetarianism and possibly a result of the SWELTERING heat last night in brooklyn.

its morning time and 85 degrees and here i am waiting for it to reach 97 and thinking about making ice pops.

the thunder was so loud last night and the lightning, it came in such bolts. there was a manhole fire down the street from me that knocked out train service and electricity to everything on the block.

a song came, in almost entirety in the kitchen last night. so for that, i am thankful.

practiced with dave and graham last week. i think we'll put something together for my show at pete's that's coming up on june 24th, exciting!

oh time!

I blink and a month has passed.

Swansea by Joanna Newsom, very good. maybe just bitter nostalgia about a bad weekend years ago?

anyway, I am working on the final arrangements for a few more songs that I am about to record. Meeting up with Graham this week to invent wheels and then move them.

Something that will also help those wheels is an eagerly awaited stimulus check.

looking forward to the pete's show june 24th. special guests will be there, i do believe!

85 degree brooklyn heat and coffee that is so very strong make for a productive morning, surprisingly.
